1/2 yard fabric

Cut out 2 of each pattern piece

Cut 2 strips of fabric 2″ buy full width of fabric
Take two loge strips and sew the short end together right sides facing.
Press in half lengthwise.
Open up and press each raw edge to the center.
Sew folded edge together
Sew the opposite side as well. Set aside for the strap.
Place zipper face down on the right side of the pocket
Pin in place. Then sew. You will see this zipper is too long so I have lined the pocket up
With the bottom of the zippers. I will cut off extra later.
Fold back so you can see the correct side of the zipper put the second pocket piece on top.
Turn over and pin in place, then sew.
Turn over and pin in place, then sew.
Press flat
Top stitch close to the zipper on each side.
Fold right side out and pin
Stitch close to each side edge. About 1/4″ seam allowance.
It is easier to sew down to the zipper than start at the zipper
Trim off excess zipper.
This is going to look like a sandwich, face side up back piece then pocket with zipper then back piece wrong side out. Pin together.
Sew with 1/2″ seam allowance down 2 sides and the curved side leaving the bottom unseen.
Turn right side out through the bottom.
Pin bottom together and sew with a 1/2″seam allowance.
Turn right side out again or more accurately turn pocket to the other side.
Seam will now be covered inside the bag.
Pin the strap in place on the back about 3 ” from the top of the bag. Make sure the strap is not twisted.
Sew in place with a 1/4″ seam,being careful not to catch the pocket.
Fold up and sew again at a 1/2″ inch from the previous stitch. This should cove the raw edge of the strap.
Put in snap. Either a sew in kind or a plastic snap with snap press.
Some possible variations:
Sew a piece of Velcro on the outside of pocket and on the inside top of back piece.
Sew the pocket without the zipper by placing pocket piece right sides together and turning right side out and top stitch. Continue the rest the same as you would if there was a zipper.
